In order to get effective results in cleaning Kanstone (Quartz based), it is extremely important to determine the type of dirt and apply the right cleaner in the right way. Cleaners should be prepared at recommended concentrations as described on product labels. The area should be split into portions and cleaning should be carried out partially. When cleaning is done with industrial flooring machines, appropriate pads must be used on the machines. (Avoid wax stripers and consult your local supplier for best results).
When machine cleaning or wet mopping is applied, surfaces must be rinsed off of any residue of cleaning agents. In the cleaning of honed, semi polished, sandblasted or scuffed surfaces, more attention should be paid in the use of cleaners, keeping in mind that such surfaces are difficult to clean.
Please also remember that some cleaners may effect grouts within time causing them to dissolve and making joints come apart.
Daily (regular) cleaning is done in three steps:
a1. Vacuum clean or sweep off all of the grit and debris with a push broom;
Spray a clean and damp dust mop with an antistatic aerosol 6 or 7 times and leave it to sit overnight to dry prior to use.
a2. . Use a daily conditioner and maintenance cleaner and rinse thoroughly (Cleaning machines are recommended)
Rinsing must be done with water. A mild cleaner with neutral Ph balance and if possible, warm water should be preferred.
a3. After cleaning, treat tough stains with special stain removers and scrub by hand if necessary;
Gel or liquid cleaning products must be preferred over those, which contain hard scouring granules.
If intensive industrial cleaner types are applied daily or periodically, the right type of brush and abrasive sheets must accompany.
It is recommended that Kanstone (Quartz based) is treated (two-four times a year) with a heavy duty (an intensive) and neutral cleaner, which is stronger than daily cleaning products. Such type of a periodic cleaning will provide mirror gloss effect, which will in turn make the flooring look as new as the first day.
b1. Allow for the heavy-duty cleaner to sit on the tiles for 5-10 minutes to dissolve the dirt. Use a floor machine with plastic brusher.
b2. Following the application of the cleaner, rinse the surface thoroughly with water.
Stains can be removed by using special stain removers that suit the type of the stain. If for instance cleaners that contain pine oil are allowed to sit on the floor more than required, traces of the pine oil may be left on the stone. It is not however, recommended to use any cleaning products that contain scouring particles, either hard or soft. In case of insufficient rinsing after the use of such cleaners, the surface might look dingy because of abrasion and discolorization.
Another chemical, which would permanently damage Kanstone (Quartz based) is Methylene Chloride. Likewise, products that contain high concentrations of alkali, caustic and ammonia are not recommended either. Surfaces should not be allowed to dry unless thoroughly rinsed off. Cleaning products that are highly acidic or alkaline also damage the tiles within time in case of insufficient rinsing.
For cleaning purposes, products of neutral or almost neutral Ph balance should be preferred. Additionally products that are sold in the market as wax and finish removers can damage the surface of the tiles within time. Please contact our offices to get more information about the various cleaning products that are recommended.
